International sports media forum took place in Turkmenistan

On April 3, 2015 within the framework of International Conference dedicated to the Asian Games 2017 and Turkmenistan’s role in progress of sports in the name of peace and prosperity, International Sports Media Forum organized by the Executive Committee on preparation for V Asian Games, State Committee for Sports and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan took place Ashgabat.

The forum gathered foreign and Turkmen sports and media experts as well as representatives of the relevant agencies, sports organizations and media. Particularly, representatives from a number of major international news agencies such as CNN International, AP, Sports News Television, Sport Business, Korean Broadcasting System and others arrived in Ashgabat to participate in the forum.

Famous experts, representing AIPS, Federation of International Sports University (FISU), World Taekwondo Federation, Olympic Committee of Russian Federation, ANO “Executive Directorate of sports projects” and other competent organizations for sports and information became the moderators of the forum sessions.

It is symbolic that the forum, which drew high attention of world sports media, was held during the days, when the month of mass sports activities under the motto “Health and happiness” initiated by the leader of the nation Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov is taking place all over the country.

During the sessions the participants considered the experience of the organizations and the media coverage of major international competitions, including the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi 2014, the Summer World University Games in Kazan in 2013. Special attention of experts was paid to the role of the media in covering sporting events in the modern age of digital information technology.

Information and experience presented during the forum will certainly be useful for journalists of print and electronic media, in order to ensure the appropriate level of information support that will meet high international standards of the upcoming Asian Games.
