President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon took part in the opening ceremony of new building of the UN mission in Ashgabat.
There are members of the Government, heads of international organizations accredited to Turkmenistan, delegates of Global Conference for Sustainable Transport, representatives of foreign and domestic mass media among the participants of the ceremony.
Permanent Coordinator of the United Nations, Permanent Representative of the UN Development Programme in Turkmenistan H.E. Madam Jasinta Barrins introduced the Heads of international missions in Turkmenistan to the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.
Turkmenistan and the United Nations flag-raising ceremony was held at the square in front of the building.
Opening of new building of the UN mission in Turkmenistan signifies the beginning of new stage in development of our cooperation, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said, having noted that successful joint projects, adopted international initiatives of Turkmenistan aimed at provision of universal peace, security and stability as well as support and trust rendered to our State by this competent organizations are distinguishing feature of this long partnership.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov assured in further endeavour of our country to cooperation with competent international organizations and first with the UN as universal ground and main element of the world diplomacy.
The Head of Turkmenistan and the UN Secretary-general cut the symbolical ribbon, having opened new building of the mission of the largest international organization.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Ban Ki-moon inspected the amenities and offices as well as gym in the basement of the building where the UN Secretary-General personally tested sport equipment.
Beautiful and functional building is provided with all conditions for productive work; all meeting rooms are equipped with audio and video systems.
At the end of the opening ceremony, the Head of the State on behalf of the Government of Turkmenistan presented the vehicle of representative class to the Head of the UN mission.
